Frequently Asked Questions
Is a manuscript evaluation different from a developmental edit?
A developmental edit is similar to a manuscript evaluation in that it evaluates the structure, plot, character arc, etc., but it also goes more in-depth to include inline comments in the manuscript along with an editorial letter. A developmental edit sometimes follows once a manuscript evaluation and subsequent drafts are completed. If you’re interested in this more in-depth level of book coaching, send me a note at the contact form below.
What if I only have a partial first draft? Can you still do a manuscript evaluation?
Yes, and this can be helpful if you are struggling with the middle, plot, character arc, etc. Keep in mind, you will get the most comprehensive feedback with a finished manuscript. We can discuss this on our discovery call.
How long does a manuscript evaluation take?
I will have the review completed and the editorial letter back to you in 4 weeks (for maximum 100,000-word manuscript).
What if I have questions about the feedback while I’m working on revisions?
I won’t leave you hanging! As part of the manuscript evaluation package, I will be available to answer your questions by email or text for one month from the date we meet to review my feedback.
What if I need some coaching to work through feedback and on my revisions?
Let me know and we’ll have a call to see how I can help you.
When do I pay?
Payment is due on the agreed upon start date.
How to we meet?
I typically meet my clients on Zoom or Google Meets so that we can develop a trusting relationship working face-to-face. Phone coaching is also available, if required.
